How Children and Youth Can Help

"Changing The World Through Jewish Unity in Giving. Together, We Are Strong."

In Jewish tradition, children are the guarantors for the Jewish people's blessings and the strength of our future.

Two key concepts that are part of this are Kindness (chesed) and Ahavas Yisrael (Love for your fellow Jew). Young people can help Israelis in many ways. Here are a few ideas:

Tell A Friend about One People One Heart and the important work we are doing to connect Jews in North America with Jews in Israel
Donate even a small amount to young Israelis in need. Check out our "Kids to Kids" in Children's Causes
¢Honor your birthday, bar or bat mitzvah or other Simcha by collecting Tzedaka (charitable donations) for One People One Heart. (link to information below)
Volunteer to start a Tzedaka Project by getting your classmates, friends and family involved!
Tell us about your experience in giving and/or raising funds for One People One Heart

POST YOUR SIMCHA AND ASK OTHERS TO JOIN IN DONATING

3. Ask people you know, guests to your event, to go on-line to http://onepeopleoneheart.org then scroll to the bottom of the homepage and click "Gifts/Simcha Partnerships" to make a donation in your honor!
a. Suggested wording on invitation or announcement might be:
i. "In lieu of gifts or In honor of my becoming a Bar Mitzvah (drop down box)"

iii. Just click on the Tzedaka Box on the homepage and you can give immediately!

GIVE TO SOMEONE WITH A SIMILAR SIMCHA

Go to Jewish Ceremonies and you will find stories of young people like you who want to celebrate their Simcha but don't have enough money to really make it special. You can be the person to make it special by donating to their Simcha in honor of YOUR own Simcha.

VOLUNTEER TO START A "FAMILY OR YOUTH TZEDAKA PROGRAM" AT YOUR SYNAGOGUE OR SCHOOL.
As a young person, you can play a significant role in helping a child in Israel, a classroom of children in Israel and a community by volunteering to start a "Tzedaka program".
